"Marcella Pobbe" 2015 Vicenza
International Opera Competition 2015 "Marcella Pobbe"
The Association "Marcella Pobbe" International Opera Award announces the International Opera Competition "Marcella Pobbe" 2015, dedicated to the memory of the great soprano from Vicenza, worldwide appreciated  for her lofty vocal and artistic virtues.
The Competition is international and the participation is open only to female voices of soprano, mezzo-soprano and contralto of any nationality and without age limits.
APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
Art. 1) The application for admission and the following requested documents must be sent within Monday, April 27th  , 2015 to the e-mail address: info@marcellapobbe.org
The mail message should contain the following documents as attached:
• Inscription Form can be downloaded from the home page of the web sitewww.marcellapobbe.org
• a List of Arias chosen by the candidate and available for download from the same home page
• Scan of the receipt of payment of the enrolment fee

The amount of the enrolment fee is Euro 50,00.
The competitor should first pay the amount by bank transfer on c/c Number 81019254/2 payable to

The Application for Admission will not be considered valid without sending all the material required by the Rules.

CALL
Art. 2) All the participants must arrive in Vicenza Thursday 30th at the Conservatory of Music “Arrigo Pedrollo” in Contrà San Domenico, 33 at 10.30 a.m. for the call.   
Any serious reasons of delay have to be announced appropriately in advance by e-mail or phone and their valuation is at the discretion of the Artistic Director.  
No reimbursement for the costs of travel and accommodation will be paid  to competitors.
All participants are required to present themselves to the Competition with a valid identity document and an updated curriculum vitae.  
For non-European participants  it is necessary  to submit the visa and / or residence permit.
The selections will start at 11.00 a.m. the same day.

Art. 3) The order of performance will be planned by the Secretary.

Art. 4) The participants must be available at any time during the entire period of the Competition.

Art. 5) The decision of the Board of Examiners  are incontestable. For any controversy reference will be made to the text in Italian.

Art. 6) Competitors cannot make any claim about all the promotional and archival material carried out for the Competition (radio or television broadcast, recording of evidence of competition or concert, photographs regarding the stages of the Competition, interviews, press ).

Art. 7) The valuation by the Board of Examiners regarding the Prize awarding is final.

REPERTOIRE

Art. 8) All tests must be performed by heart.

Art. 9) Competitors must perform four Arias by the main operatic roles. All arias must be performed  in the original language and with relative “recitativo” and / or “cabaletta” when expected. Participants may make use of piano accompanist teachers available for free from the Competition or pianists of their choice at their own expenses.

 

RULES 'OF OPERATION OF THE CONTEST

Art. 10) The competition will consist in two parts:

- General preliminary tests on April, Thursday 30th 2015 at the Auditorium “Marcella Pobbe” in the Conservatory of Music of Vicenza.

- Final test, as a public concert, on May, Friday 1st 2015, at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza.

For the general preliminary test, applicants must submit:
• One aria of their choice among those listed in the program;
• One aria or part of it may be chosen by the Board of Examiners among those listed in the program.

The Commission will report at the end of the preliminary test the names of the artists admitted to the Final in concert form.
The applicants who have obtained the suitability in the General preliminary tests will be admitted to the final examination.

The program for the final examination at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza consists in the execution of two arias from the program submitted by the competitor:
• 1 aria chosen by the Board of Examiners;
• 1 aria chosen by the competitor.

Art. 12) The valuation by the Board regarding the Prize awarding is final.
The Board may decide not to assign an award if they think  no candidate is worthy.
The Board may award an ex-aequo.
The winners will be recommended  to the main theaters and other major International Festivals and Concert Institutions. During the competition tests the Artistic Director will also select singers for the annual concerts and training activities carried out in collaboration with the Laboratorio Lirico del  Veneto "G. Martinelli-A.Pertile" which consist of:
- Master classes;
- Entries for the 2015-2016 concert season.
The acceptance of the award  will engage the winners to participate in a "Gala Concert" at a later date.

Art. 13) Any sound recordings or broadcasts video / audio of the different tests  of the competition, including the final concert, will not give any right of compensation to the participants.
Audio and video recordings, that are not authorized in writing by the Artistic Director of the competition, are not allowed.

Art. 14) Enrolment for the competition implies acceptation of the conditions of this announcement.
All personal data of the participants will be protected in accordance with Legislative Decree 196/2003. For any further information you can contact the Secretary of the Competition.

Art. 15) For any controversy reference will be made to the text in Italian.

Art. 16) Any dispute shall be settled by the Court of Vicenza.
